Summary

On December 16, Circle experienced a short period of degraded performance and partial unavailability. The issue was caused by an unintended increase in background processing following a recent backend change, which briefly increased system load and impacted platform responsiveness.

Impact

During the incident window, some users may have experienced slow page loads, timeouts, or temporary difficulty accessing certain areas of the platform. No customer data was lost or corrupted.

Resolution

Our engineering team quickly identified the source of the increased load, removed the underlying cause, and stabilized the system. Services were fully restored shortly afterward, and we have taken steps to reduce the likelihood of similar incidents.
